I know I get stroppy when someone I follow doesn't post for a few days. I start to think...'lazy cow....can't even be bothered to sit at a computer for a couple of minutes....' . You tend to feel ownership towards the blogger. They let you into their life and when they suddenly don't give you that access (attention) you feel gypped, hurt, let down. Heavens forbid if someone chooses to 'take a break'. I instantly decided to exclude them from my imaginary friends list and all of my other blogger friends will have fun without them....they'll see...they'll come snivelling back...this is all said by a person (moi) who has tried and tried to be a blogger and frequently get sidetracked...is that a sign of someone with a healthy life or someone with commitment issues?? When I first started to blog I ran around and told everyone (I secretly thought I was a genius being middle aged and a cyber chick!) but as time went on I realised that I wasn't sure why I was blogging. I had visions of chipper photos and entertaining rumblings....but who for? wHY was I doing it? And once I realised I'd given away my anonymity I became shy and reluctant to post things that I wanted to for fear of 'being-spoken-about'. But WHY do people blog? Is it purely a vanity vehicle? Why do I still want to do this? When I secretly hope none I know reads it? I was going to change the name of my blog.....but I really like the name. It's the name of my fantasy book/crochet/flower/stationery and cake coffee shop. It's been a while since I blogged ...maybe the people who followed me originally have got tired of it and I can start a fresh? I have a month off work to get my head in a bloggers space. I need to remember it's just for me and no one else. I can say and do what I like without fear of exposing too much of myself. Let's see.... Posted by Jodee at 17:18 No comments: Saturday 1 February 2014 Blogging is tricky Blogging is tricky. No it's not brain teasingly tricky...but tricky all the same. Embarrassingly my last blog was in July 2013. It's not even that I've had nothing to blog about (although, in truth, nothing THAT amazing has happened in the last 6 months).I'm forever taking photos "for my blog" and just never get around to it...it's the loading of the photos that takes the time....and proves to be frustrating to me! That being said, Smother is constantly nagging that I should "put that on your block (blog)". And I'm constantly nagging her to get onto Pinterest. You see, Smother is a BIG magazine reader...HUGE, but only house magazines or anything 'English". I've tried to show her various blogs that I follow, but she never has the patience. The problem being that we are on a remote property and have satellite internet access, which, depending on the weather etc, can be slow. And Smother being Smother-she needs INSTANT gratification or she storms off in a huff. Anyway, she absolutely ADORES any pictures I show her from Pinterest but says she can't be bothered looking. No I find that quiet frustrating, yes she's 67, and uses the old "old dog / new tricks" complaint, but dad has a laptop and he is becoming slightly more savvy with it. So we've made an agreement....if I "block / blog" at least once a week...smother will deign to occasionally peruse Pinterest and ,heaven forbid, even begin following some blogs of her own!! These are photos of a beautiful little florist in Engadine NSW that I took in April 2013...go figure! Anyway, so that's where we are up to...I'm going to endeavour to blog more frequently and Smother is going to try to 'look' at Pinterest...bless her! On another note, another thing was that I actually WON A COMPETITION!!! Yes indeedy...now those who know me know I'm pretty proud of the chocolate mint pattie I won at the Engadine under 5 ballet championships in 1974. I got it for the 'person who tried really hard but still looked liked the hippo from fantasia". Nana Barb said the judges were rigged and that I was majestic....even so, I haven't won another thing until the other day when I entered a give away through Dottie Angel BlogSpot http://dottieangel.blogspot.com.au/search?updated-max=2014-01-29T09:24:00-08:00&max-results=3 and it struck me as simply amazing that someone so far away could be interested n what was happening here. The blogging world is an amazing thing when you think about it...I follow blogs from The Netherlands to India and all points in between. It's fascinating really. So here's to a hopeful year of blogging and I'm going to close with a few pictures of what I have been up to lately.....it's just too hot to stay in this room!! I've made oodles of tea cosies and hot water bottle covers... Ok...so it took forever to put those photos on. I was going to show you some other things I've been up to...but that will have to wait for another day... Happy now Mum?? I vowed I wasn't going up this path again, but once I saw their gorgeous rounded rumps...I had to have them.... They are pekins and waddle about like sumo wrestlers. Sorry about the photos. I will take better ones this weekend because I have THE WHOLE WEEKEND AT HOME!!!! For the first time in about 5 weeks!! So the padlock is going on the front gate and I plan to have a gorgeous 48 hours at home in the garden....well that's the plan! Posted by Jodee at 14:44 1 comment: Sunday 26 August 2012 Brock Well, I know I've tried to get back into the blog routine...and it is a routine. I madly snap photos all the time, but never quite get around to uploading them. I've moved my laptop into the kitchen as I really didn't like sitting in the study down the hallway. I felt a bit boxed in. But I must admit I don't like the look of it sitting there. It totally ruins the whole retro-vintage-vicarage-chic look I was going for. It looks silly perched on my beloved '50s red formica table. Anyway, I've left my new super duper mega computer in the study (it hasn't been turned on for weeks) and moved my daggy old beaten up laptop out to the kitchen. The only problem is that my old daggy was chock-a-block and sooo slow because it's hard drive was full. So I rushed out and got an external hard drive and dumped everything onto it. It made a slight difference to old daggy but now all my photos are on the external hard drive which is neatly positioned next to supa dupa down the hallway. Anyway...I'll get to it. In the meantime you'll have to be satisfied with my latest purchase... I paid $20 for it at a local garage sale and had about 5 people try to buy it from me on the way to car. I made sure Smother had a firm grip on it!! What is it?? A rocking kangaroo of course!!! In perfect condition! Why did I buy it?? For my new newphew "Brock"! Of course Brock isn't here yet...he's still cooking in "the girlfriend's" (mad finger clicking and head jerking) tummy!!! BUT when he gets here he won't only have an aunty to who is utterly obsessed with him already...but a room full of gorgeous vintage, crochet, knitted cool stuff love!! Anyway..the real world calls in the form of work. Speaking of work, I have been asked to fill in on a trip to Canberra and will be leaving at Oh-my-god-o'clock tomorrow morning and coming back very late Friday night. Wish me luck! But then I look back on various times I HAVE blogged and I get such a thrill remembering different things. So...I think I might attempt to start again.....for my own benefit and joy- if for nothing else!!! This picture is soooooo me!! I just lurve it.
